The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury's programs are designed to encourage our members to achieve positive outcomes in the priority areas of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Our programs and activities follow the Formula for Impact – the Boys & Girls Club roadmap for ensuring that young people have a positive, impactful Club experience and, ultimately, achieve the important outcomes that lead them to great futures.

Summer Camp

Healthy Lifestyles

The Healthy Lifestyles programs encourage members to make positive decisions that support and nurture their physical and personal well-being. From encouraging proper nutrition and staying physically active to developing positive relationships, these programs help our Club kids see the value in making healthy life choices to ensure their future as self-sufficient adults.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation are an integral part of healthy lifestyles. These programs foster physical fitness, develop social skills and provide a positive way for members to spend leisure time and channel their youthful energy.

Triple Play

A "Game Plan for Mind, Body and Soul" - Triple Play is a comprehensive health and wellness program that strives to improve the overall health of members. Triple Play includes healthy habit programs that emphasize good nutrition, exercise and well-being. Gym-based activities, including in-house sports leagues like flag football and basketball, running and soccer programs provide boys and girls with the opportunity to gain and develop their skills while having fun.

Passport to Manhood

Passport to Manhood is a program that promotes and teaches responsibility in boys ages 11-14 by teaching them to navigate the difficult passage from boyhood to manhood. The program addresses critical issues that young men face, including ethics, decision making, wellness, employment and more.

SMART Girls

SMART Girls is a program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls in 3 age groups through highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities. This program focuses on small-group health,fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement. Girls explore their own attitudes and values – as well as societal attitudes and values – as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good healthcare and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

SMART Moves

The SMART Moves program helps members to hone their decision-making and critical-thinking skills. This program also teaches members how to use these skills to stand up to peer pressure, providing the skills needed to help them avoid and/or resist alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and premature sexual activity.

Rising Star Awards Dinner

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury annually recognizes the accomplishments of members in all program areas during the Rising Star Awards Dinner. The Club believes that recognition is a key element of positive youth development.

Academic Success

Our Education & Technology programs prepare our members for success. By stressing the importance of education and hard work while also developing basic educational and technological abilities, our programs help establish a core set of skills that our members can continue to develop and grow as they strive for great futures.

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count

Power Hour at the Club helps members achieve academic success by providing tutoring and high-yield activities. This program also encourages members to become self-directed learners.

Technology Programs

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury provides programming, training and resources to develop the aptitude necessary for school and workplace success. This includes programs in computer-assisted design and 3D printing.

Project Learn

Project Learn uses all areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for learning activities. This includes leisure reading, writing activities, discussions, homework help, tutoring and games designed to develop youth cognitive skills & abilities.

Character & Leadership

Our Character & Leadership Development programs strive to provide members with the skills necessary to create a successful future. These programs encourage young people to support their Club and community while building & sustaining healthy relationships with others, developing positive self-image through good character, and respecting other cultural identities.

Torch Club

The Torch Club is a leadership and service club for boys and girls aged 11 to 13 who work together to implement activities in 4 areas:

1. Service to the Club and community
2. Education
3. Health and fitness
4. Social recreation

Keystone Club

The Keystone Club affords teens the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience through activities in 3 areas:

1. Academic success
2. Career exploration
3. Community service

Mentoring

Mentoring at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury provides caring mentors to young community members. These mentors provide emotional support, counsel, friendship, guidance and reinforcement to males in grades 7 – 12.

Teen Programs

Our teen programs are designed exclusively for teens. Teens require a different approach to recruitment, retention, marketing, staff interaction and use of space. Our teens have their exclusive teen area with video games, comfortable furniture and televisions to create an open and active environment where they focus on academics and their plans for after high school.

Keystone Club

Affords teens the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience through activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration and community service.

Youth of the Year

Celebrates the extraordinary achievements of teen members. One exceptional teen serves as the ambassador for the Club and as a voice for young people.

Diplomas 2 Degrees

A college readiness program, guides members as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success.

Money Matters

Promotes financial responsibility and independence by building basic money management skills. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest.

Career Launch

Helps teens determine what they want to be when they grow up. This program guides kids to assess interests and skills, explore career options and make educational choices to help them get there.

Summer Enrichment Program

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury is pleased to share our Summer Enrichment Program – a fun, interactive learning program designed for summer in the Club! Our Summer Program will be filled with lots of learning and tons of fun – all to help avoid summer learning loss.

Children will also participate in activities like basketball, flag football and activities and game room contests. They will also be able to play with KaBoom, our Imagination Playground where the only limit to what they can make is their imagination. Does your child prefer the arts? Then that is no issue, we also have an arts program where they can participate in fun arts and crafts activities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all daily.
